When we attained Independence on 19th September,1983 and our constitution came into operation, the Office of the Governor General was created. The Governor-General represents Her Majesty The Queen of Saint Christopher (St.Kitts) and Nevis and is the Head of State and Head of the Executive of our Government. The Governor-General holds the highest Office in St.Kitts and Nevis and is addressed as His excellency or Your Excellency as may be appropriate.
Government House has a fascinating history and the biographical details of former
holders of the Office of Administrator, Governor and Governor-General may be interesting to research. I invite you to peruse this website which is intended to give you some insight into the Office of Governor-General, some functions or duties of the Office and a brief historical overview of Government House and some of the previous holders of the offices of Administrator, Governor and Governor-General.
