Message From The Governor General

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Government House, Springfield, St.Kitts, the Official Office and Residence of the Governor-General.

When we attained Independence on 19th September, 1983 and our Constitution came into operation, the Office of Goevernor-General was created. The Governor-General represents Her Majestry The Queen of Saint Christopher (St.Kitts) and Nevis and is the Head of State and Head of the Executive of our Government. The Governor-General holds the highest Office in St.Kitts and Nevis and is addressed as His Excellency or Your Excellency as may be appropriate.

Government House has a fascinating history and the biographical details of former holders of the office of Administrator, Governor, and Governor-General may be interesting to research. I invite you to peruse this website which is intended  to give you some insight into the Office of Governor-General, some functions or duties of that Office and a brief historical overview of Government House and some of the previous holders of the offices of Administrator, Governor and Governor-General.

Sir S.W. Tapley Seaton
