Mrs. AGNES MORTON began her career as an educator as a pupil teacher in 1943 at the age of 13, and retired from the civil service in 1986, a period of service of some 43 years.  Her mission was dedicated to the upliftment of all students with whom she came into contact.  She trained at the Springs Gardens Teacher Training College in Antigua and later when the secondary school system replaced the all Age Elementary Schools, Mrs. Morton as a specialist teacher in the department of home economics, specialized in the area of Food and Nutrition up to the School Leaving Certificate.

Mrs. Morton has been prominent in Community and Church activity. In 1975 she as a founding member of the business and professional women and served as its President from 1981 to 1983.  From 1987 to 1988, she was President of the St. Kitts flower Arrangers Association.

For many years she was a Member of the Wesley Senior Choir and for over 20 years, she was Director of the Junior Choir and in 1983 was a member of the National Choral Society.

Mrs. Morton introduced a supervised meal on Wheels Programme as part of the Outreach Policy of the Wesley Methodist Church and voluntarily taught young women cake and pastry making to enable them to become self-employed individuals.

Mrs. Morton formally retired from education at the age 56 and today at the age of 87 many of her past friend and students remember and visit her at home to remind her that her life and teaching in the nation ware not in vain.

Mrs. Morton is blessed that she can enjoy her happy family, her husband, Mr. Edmond Morton, MBE and her four children who are all making their contribution to society, and best of all, her delightful grand and great grand children.

Mrs. AGNES EUDORA MORTON is therefore presented wot the award of star of Merit for Long and Meritorious Service.
